Adelphians Volunteer as Featured Performers
In Annual Bay Ridge Haunted Halloween Walk
Upper Schoolers Kristian and Eduard welcomed visitors to the Haunted Halloween Walk!
BAY RIDGE – Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn students and staff gave back to the community by giving families a good scare on Halloween! Adelphi Academy once again proudly served as a major sponsor of the Annual Bay Ridge Haunted Halloween Walk and Fairytale Forest event held in Owl’s Head Park on October 31st, 2018. Adelphi’s Director of Academy Operations Mr. Albert C. Corhan served as a producer of this event, as did Adelphi’s Director of Community & External Relations Mr. Chip Cafiero, the event’s founder.
Upper School Adelphians came to the park straight from school and received instructions from Mr. Cafiero and Mr. Tony Travis, another producer of the event, as to which character they would be portraying inside the Haunted Walk. The Walk featured a number of spooky sets, from a butcher’s shop to a Game of Thrones-themed Wheel of Torture to re-enactments of scenes from The Birds and Psycho. Adelphians received professional makeup application to enhance their individual characters and add realism to their horrifying portrayals of zombies, ghouls and ghosts. Faculty members and some Adelphi parents also joined in by portraying characters inside the Walk and within the Fairytale Forest, which featured crafts and games for younger children. Only the bravest visitors dared to enter the Haunted Walk, and Adelphians had a blast scaring the thousands of people who walked through — all in good fun, of course.
A highlight of the event was an appearance by State Senator Marty Golden, who brought the event to Bay Ridge with Mr. Cafiero more than 20 years ago. He seemed generally spooked at several points during his walk through the various sets and said he was impressed with the effort put forth by Adelphi.

Mr. Cafiero said, “This year’s Haunted Halloween Walk was the most successful to date! Tens of thousands of families enjoyed a safe alternative to trick-or-treating by coming out to the park and experiencing what makes Bay Ridge so great — the dedication of local organizations like Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn who volunteer their time to make sure others enjoy themselves at a family-friendly event like this.”
“Some of those sets were really scary,” he added. “Adelphians did a phenomenal job!”
Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said, “Volunteering at the Bay Ridge Haunted Halloween Walk & Fairytale Forest has become a cherished tradition at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn. I am so proud of our students and staff who participated in this event as actors, as well as those who served as supervisors or who simply came to show their support for our students. Once again Adelphians were able to work in unison to ensure that thousands of families enjoyed a safe and memorable Halloween!”
