Adelphi Academy Aids Families in Need for Thanksgiving!

BAY RIDGE — Members of the Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn community showed their generosity this holiday season by donating hundreds of canned goods and non-perishable food items to those in need, just in time for Thanksgiving.

The annual schoolwide Holiday Food Drive, organized by Adelphi’s Student Advisory Board, helped to restock the shelves at Reaching-Out Community Services, Inc. to benefit its Food Pantry Plus Program. This year, the collection bin inside Adelphi’s Main Hall literally overflowed!

“Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s Annual Holiday Food Drive is always a highlight of the holiday season for our students and staff, as their generosity makes such a difference in the lives of so many families in need,” Adelphi Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said. “One of the most important lessons we can teach our children is the importance of selflessness during the holidays — and at all times. We thank the folks at Reaching-Out Community Services for allowing us to bring that lesson to life and contribute to such a successful and impactful effort.”

Once the drive had ended, members of Adelphi’s Student Advisory Board packed up all the items to be loaded onto the Panther Van and delivered to the food pantry in time for Thanksgiving. There were nearly three dozen giant bags filled overall!
