Adelphians Learn to be a Hero on Superhero Day!
BAY RIDGE — It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s an Adelphian! Superheroes swooped into Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn on Thursday, September 28th, 2023 as the entire school tapped into their heroic qualities and dressed as their favorite comic book characters on Superhero Day — the first of Adelphi’s monthly Spirit Day events!
Adelphians of all ages dressed as The Avengers, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Superman and other popular comic book characters. Comic book sayings like “Smash,” “Ka-Pow” and “Crash” decorated the halls of each floor and students and staff enjoyed striking their best superhero poses in front of them. Colorful Marvel- and DC-related posters were hung inside the Panther Café as well, adding to the ambience. Lower Schoolers also learned about what it takes to be a hero, from being kind and helping others to always doing their best! Some even came dressed as their own original heroes!
Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said, “Adelphi’s monthly Spirit Day program allows students, faculty and staff to connect in a unique manner and show school spirit and unity. Superhero Day serves as a great way to kick off this program as it allows students and staff to explore what it truly means to be a hero. They tap into their own heroic qualities — from being polite and respectful to assisting others in need at all times — which they continue to cultivate throughout the rest of the school year.”
As the oldest private, independent, continuing, coeducational, college-preparatory day school in the borough and one of the oldest in the nation, Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn, “the little school of big dreams” has been “effectively preparing learners for college, career, and life, one day at a time” for over 160 years.
