Fairytales Come True for Adelphians on Disney Day!
BAY RIDGE — “Fairytales can come true; it can happen to you,” if you’re an Adelphian! Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn celebrated all things Disney on Thursday, November 12th, 2020 as students, faculty and staff enjoyed Disney Day!
Dressed in their favorite Disney apparel and, in some cases, elaborate costumes, Adelphians of all ages enjoyed taking photos and showing their appreciation for the many iconic characters developed by the great Walt Disney. There were princesses, superheroes and Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears everywhere!
Giant cutouts of characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Chef Linguini and Remy adorned the walls of the Panther Café, and original Disney-themed artwork, writing and decorations filled the halls to create a fairytale-like atmosphere.
“Disney Day is one of the most popular Spirit Day events held annually at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn,” Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said. “Over the years, as the Disney universe has expanded, so too has our celebration of all things Disney. Now for every Mickey and Minnie, there are students dressed as superheroes and Star Wars characters, which shows just how expansive and diverse the Disney universe is. It’s really a wonderful sight to see and brings all Adelphians together.”
And to think, as Walt Disney himself might say, it all started with a mouse!
As the oldest private, independent, continuing, coeducational, college-preparatory day school in the borough and one of the oldest in the nation, Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn, “the little school of big dreams” has been “effectively preparing young people for college, career, and life, one day at a time” for over 150 years. A founding member of the Coalition of Essential Schools, Adelphi receives its charter from the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and has been a member of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools since 1928.
